Welcome Back to School!  We are very excited about the new school year at Batesburg-Leesville Primary!  It is my pleasure to be your child's assistant principal at BLPS. Little children always have a sparkle in their eye and a vivid imagination that brightens each and every day for me.  It is wonderful to be able to work with the parents, community and children of Lexington Three.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I received my Masters of Administration and Supervision from Clemson University!  Before I became an assistant principal, I taught for 13 years at the primary level.  I have taught first, second, and third grades.  During this time  I was elected as Saluda County Teacher of the Year.  I have three children of my own that attend school in Lexington Three.   I absolutely love children and assisting them in being successful. 

As always,many exciting things will take place this year at the primary school.  We believe in continuous training for teachers in order to provide our students with the best education possible.  Teachers will be trained in mathematics strategies for primary aged children.  This will include training in the use of manipulatives.  In addition, we have a math consultant working with us this year that will help facilitate ways to make sure all children are mastering math skills. Teachers will also learn about math strategies through an on-line course this year.  We will continue to improve and refine our balanced literacy  program and will continue to provide excellent writing instruction through the Write From the Beginning program. 

Our school will have a fruit and vegetable program this year. to promote a healthy body and good nutrition.  Students will receive small packets of fruits and vegetables to eat as a snack on special days.  All of our grade levels will have "fruit and vegetable" activities.  Kindergarten will plant seeds, first grade will plant a garden and second grade will present a play for parents, the community and our students.
